This client with circa 40,000 employees wanted to transform its UK HR operations in order to bring about significant service improvements and efficiencies.  However, it was struggling to write the Business Case so turned to Sierra Lima for help.  

In order to develop the Business Case we first needed to crystallise the future HR Operating Model, formulate the transition plan and construct the overarching programme plan.  Significantly, we needed to do this against a backdrop of considerable scepticism and nervousness within the business about the need for, and the benefits of, the programme.  We therefore needed to expend considerable energy understanding the challenges and separating these from simple change resistance.

 

We successfully wrote the Business Case and navigated it through Regional and Global Board sign-off.  We also established the necessary programme governance and change management strategy, then delivered the first phase of the programme while concurrently helping the organisation source a Programme Manager from within to deliver the remainder of it.

Project Portfolio

This client had around 300 ‘projects’ that it wanted to implement in the year but the governance processes were such that it couldn’t readily determine which of these were the most important.

Through a series of workshops Sierra Lima identified which of the initiatives were genuine projects and which were ‘business as usual’.  We prioritised the projects and put in place the governance processes to manage this portfolio and to prioritise future initiatives.
